Intl Ch Windrock Angeleyes Of Skyings with puppies sired by BIS Int Ch Sobers Cadiac owned by Inger Johansson of Skyings, Sweden There is a future BIS winner in this litter along with many champions carrying Inger's Skyings prefix. Windrock greyhounds have been great producers for other greyhound kennels here and abroad. | We don't often have greyhound puppies and when we do, some of the pups already have families waiting! WINDROCK generally averages only one litter a year. There aren't any litters planned for 2010. We always retain puppies from each breeding. Even though Greyhounds can have notoriously large litters, reservations to ensure a puppy are highly recommended.
Our WINDROCK site has earned many awards. Thank you to all who either voted for or nominated us! |
BIF DC WINDROCK HOCUS POCUS SC FCH
We are in the process of completing health testing on Dual Champion Windrock Hocus Pocus SC Fch who is a daughter of our famed "Naughty" (DC Windrock Mamma Mia SC LCX Fch)
"Wicked" is CERF clear and is OFA hips and elbows. We will complete the rest of her testing -thyroid and cardiac soon. Link to OFA: http://www.offa.org/display.html?appnum=1357634#animal
A keen and enthusiastic courser like her mother, this little red brindle finished her AKC Field Championship with some nice wins, including a Best In Field for a 5 point major.
She finished her ASFA Field Championship at the 2008 ASFA Greyhound National and won the 2008 Master M'Grath Cup!
Wicked easily achieved her AKC bench Championship with 3 major wins and mulitple BOB wins over specials.
Wicked embodies many of the characteristics that Windrock values in a greyhound.
She is a solid and hard muscled, sporty type of bitch with superior athleticism. Even standing still, she looks FAST. She is lovely to go over and is quite sound. In character she is highly reminiscent of coursing bitches of 50 years ago.
Wicked's 3 generation pedigree may be found here: http://www.greyhound-data.com/d?i=1328545
We are planning to put her to BIF Cashell's Tally Ho LCM. "Tally" was the #1 ASFA greyhound in 2008. Tally suffered the misfortune of losing 1/2 of his tail and this unfortunate accident has prevented him from attaining an AKC Championship. See pedigree of planned mating here: http://www.greyhound-data.com/dbtestmating.php?&sireid=1574904&damid=1328545 Plans are conditional waiting outcome of health testing.

What more can we say about "Awesome Amber"? Amber is arguably Windrock's best courser to date and has racked up impressive wins over some of the best hounds in the country. This red dynamo is field titled with both ASFA and AKC. We take her out predator hunting and she is a superb fox hunter. Our 2010 plans include pursuing her AKC show Championship title. It is entirely possible that she may earn her LCM and/or LCX along the way.
Amber is CERF and will be hip/heart and thyroid tested before being bred. She will also be DNA identified. The sire to be has been tentatively selected as John Parker's "Seymour", pending health clearances.
Our WINDROCK puppies are raised in our home and are highly socialized . They are not kennel dogs and are placed with the understanding that they live in homes as members of the family. WINDROCK puppies are health examined and veterinary certified, microchipped, fully vaccinated and de-wormed. Each Puppy is sold with a veterinary health certificate and with written guarantees of health and quality. We stand behind our Written Code of Ethics and the genetic health of our greyhounds for LIFE. Please refer to our Testimonials page and we encourage interested parties to contact persons who have acquired greyhounds from us. Each puppy comes with a wonderful puppy care kit which includes collar, leash, health records, instructions on care and feeding, two wonderful books, toys and most importantly, WINDROCK lifetime mentoring! We prefer to place our puppies at 10 weeks of age. We allow our greyhounds Moms to naturally rear and wean their offspring. A puppy of this age can dove-tail quite easily into a new home, as he is potty trained, walks willingly on leash and sleeps in a crate at night without protest. He is a happy, highly socialized little guy ready for a new family to love him. |
"Mikis" and his kitty are the best of pals! We encourage persons that wishing to be considered for a WINDROCK puppy to contact us at Windrock@bresnan.net |
Here are Whisper's and Ayden's kids at 5 weeks of age. I might add that they are a very vigorous and wiggly lot and taking photographs of them is REALLY a challenge! These kids have much the same look and
quality as the "Wild Bunch" litter.

Here is Mamma Whisper with her 10 pups at about one week of age. Whisper is the best of Greyhound Moms and takes wonderful care of her family. Her brood has waxed fax and strong! The proud Papa is Dual Champion Sobers Ippolito SC "Ayden", featured below!
This is a repeat breeding of our lovely DC Windrock I've
Got A Secret SC. "Whisper" is the dam of our exciting"Wild Bunch" litter sired by the Italian marvel, DC Sobers Ippolito SC.
One of these pups is top ranked in Canada and won a Group 2 at her first show and finished her championship in a handful of shows. Another won a Group from the classes and two are field titled. Three dominated the major wins on the 2009 National weekend! We predict illustrious careers for many of the Wild Bunch!
Photo on left shows Whisper just a couple of days before she whelped 12 puppies in Dec of 2007. She free whelped her entire litter with no difficulty. Note her dark eyes, beautiful head and front and great conformation. "Whisper" is a greyhound of great virtue and produces same.
May 23, 2009. A very pg Whisper is pictured below. Note the fantastic condition and health of this Mamma to be is! Can you believe she is EIGHT years old? Good genes and the best of care account for health and longivity of our dogs. Whisper's grandmother lived to be 16!
Whisper's
time draws very near . . .
UPDATE!! At 8 am on Memorial Day--the first little pup makes her grand entrance!! An elegant little blue girl!!
By 1600 hours (4pm) Whisper has free whelped 10 perfect little babies ! I think she is done. I KNOW I am, I'm whipped just watching her!
This beautiful litter exceeds our expectations and has much the same look and quality as the WILD Bunch. As they were born on Memorial Day, this litter has "American" theme names.
WINDROCK has a policy of breeding only mature Ch and/or Field titled bitches that are health screened. By that time. we know how the bitch has "finished out" and by breeding only mature animals can a wise breeder effectively plot the course for future generations. We breed only the very best, and even our best might have only one litter in a lifetime. Many times have inexperienced or foolish breeders mated dogs as youngsters that NEVER should have been bred as health problems and other undesirable considerations developed as the animals matured. Eye problems in greyhounds often do not appear before 5 years of age. Note that we regularly CERF our greyhounds!
Whisper is OFA/CERF/DNA For OFA: http://www.offa.org/display.html?appnum=1068441#animal
DC Sobers Ippolito SC is a producer of top ranked get from his first few litters. "Ayden" is an scopey greyhound possessing generous volume, a long strong neck and has beautiful curves. He has correct low reaching sidegait and is very sound. This outstanding male is exceptionally well-conformed with the best of feet and legs. He is a good a male greyhound as we have ever had and his stellar show career reveals that we are not the only ones of this opinion! Best In Show at the ASFA National Greyhound Specialty Greyhound Show~ 2009-GCA Western-AOM and winner Stud Dog Class! GCA National 2009, Ayden's get dominates the class placements and wins 4 of the 6 majors!
Shown at three GCA Specialties, Ayden won three consecutive 5 pt majors which is a record achievement! Two of these wins were back to back National wins! He has demonstrated impressive ability on the coursing field and has his AKC Field Champion title. At his first ever lure coursing trial, he won a 5pt major at the GCA National Specialty Lure Trial! Ayden is an AKC Dual Champion and is well started on his ASFA FCh.
He is a credit to his breeder, Bitte Ahrens of SOBERS fame. We are grateful to Sobers of Italy for entrusting us with this magnificent stallion of a dog! "Ayden" is health screened--OFA/CERF. Click here for OFA: http://www.offa.org/display.html?appnum=1303429#animal
Ayden is microchipped and DNA registered. In addition to possessing superior conformation, he has the sweetest and most loving character. He shows promise of being a good sire as his first pups are already winners in the ring as well as being extremely biddable and loving!
We are excited by the early promise of his offspring and feel the Future looks bright. . .
| At Windrock we don't allow our puppies to leave until 10 weeks of age. We have worked with the litter full time to give each of the puppies the best possible start in life. But it is only A START. It is up to the new family to carry on Pup's education and raise him up to be a good canine citizen. Obedience and Puppy Kindergarden classes are strongly recommended! WINDROCK awards AKC or UKC obedience title awards with cash incentives! My old team roping partner used to say, "You get out of a horse exactly what you put into one--and good horses are made over time and with lots of wet saddleblankets." How true. Your Pup will reflect exactly what you have taught--or failed to teach him. A trained and well behaved dog reflects hours of one on one training, dedication and love. Bad dogs result from inapproprite training or no training--and neglect. A Greyhound puppy will require extensive time and dedication from his caretakers. He will need lots of time to play in a big yard to expend all that youthful energy. Don't expect him to entertain himself, he wants and needs someone to play with--You or another dog of appropriate size and mentality so as not to hurt him. If you don't have the time to make the commitment to your companion owing to work demands or family life--PLEASE reconsider getting a dog. |
Oct 15, 2008. Oh my gosh, my back is KILLING me. I stayed up all night with Naughty. She didn't need me, she knew what she was doing. The miracle of birth is something so blessed, so revered, that I find that no matter how many times I've seen it, each time is just like the first. Puppies ARE like a box of chocolates--you never know what you are going to get!
The Good News: Naughty easily whelped 3 girls and 1 little boy in about three hours time. We have 1 solid blue girl (Annie Oakley), 1 blue brindle girl (Calamity Jane), a white and black particolor girl (Calico Sue), and a black little boy (Pistol Pete). Nice pups, all are firm, well bodied and vigorous. They have pretty heads, long necks, great length and perfect tails. A small gang, but very promising. Well Done Naughty!
The BAD News: As is often the case with exceptional bitches like Naughty, the demand for her puppies far exceeded the supply!! No "Naughty" puppies available. We were hoping for a larger litter, but feel blessed with what Naughty saw fit to give us.
